Today, I want to talk about juice.
When I was growing up, I believed that Sunny D was the best juice to buy and had the most nutrition. I was sucking down Capri-Suns between recess breaks, and begging my Dad to buy me Squeeze Its during our regular trip to Raley's after school! Do you remember those? They had the cool twist off plastic top and tasted like sugary heaven! What I didn't know is those drinks had the potential to make me fat, and more importantly....sick.
As an adult, I now know the dangers of sugary beverages like that, which is why I want to stress how important it is to remove those drinks from your life!
If you didn't know, I live in Colombia, South America and one of my favorite things about this amazing place is their love for PURE, NATURAL juice. I mean like straight from the fruit! Whaaaaaaat, you didn't know juice could actually be made by fruit? You're so used to buying juice from aisle 4, that you forgot that delicious refreshing juice came from an actual fruit! Don't be embarrassed, I was 27 when I realized the juice I had been drinking my entire life was not actually fruit juice.
Colombia is home for some of the most nutritious and exotic fruits perfect for juicing and making smoothies. These natural fruits bear all the nutrition necessary to prevent disease and cure your everyday aches and pains. If you haven't noticed, Earth-grown food is Mother Nature's medicine! So I'd like to share some juicing recipes that can give your body the resources it needs to cure itself!
-1 large handful spinach leaves,
-1 large handful kale
Juice all the ingredients except the avocado and ice. Pour the juice into your blender, along with the avocado flesh and blend until smooth.
2. Urinary Tract Infection
-1 small handful cranberries
Juice all the ingredients and serve over ice.
3. Glowing Skin
-1 lemon, peeled
-1/2 green apple
-handful of kale
-5-8 stalks of celery
-1 small bunch of cilantro
Juice and enjoy!
4. Digestion and Immunity
-1 cup of fresh pineapple
-1 lemon, peeled
-1/2″ piece of ginger
-handful of fresh mint
5. Weight Loss
-4 celery stalks
-6-8 leaves kale
-1 in (2.5 cm) piece of ginger
Add all ingredients through juicer and enjoy!
You can replace a meal with juice or add it into your daily meal plan, these juices are completely guilt free!
